Nanaimo Cruise Ship Terminal

Nanaimo Cruise Ship Terminal

This job involved supplying, fabricating and installing Kawneer's Clearwall curtainwall system, along with a glass canopy, handrail glass, frameless doors, interior glazing and a structural glass boardroom. It is the first installation of the Clearwall system in western Canada. This is a building with many beautiful architectural elements.

The job presented a few challenges, not the least of which was meeting the deadline which coincided with the grand opening on May 6. The terminal welcomed its first cruise ship as scheduled the following day. This was the first time we had worked with the Clearwall system and we were very happy with how well it went. With the site crew in Nanaimo and the fabrication crew in Burnaby, every site measurement was critical and every fabrication error would have been magnified. The importance of accurate communication and cooperation was key in completing this project. Of note, we thank our suppliers Kawneer Company Canada and Vitrum Industries for keeping the materials flowing, Read Jones Christofferson for their engineering expertise, as well as the staff and crew at Heatherbrae Builders in Nanaimo who managed this project.

Let the cruise ships come.
